Val Heliski was started in 2009 by Claire and Tom Jeffery. Claire began heli-boarding in Canada and spent her early adulthood there as a sponsored snowboarder. Since she has qualified and worked as a maritime solicitor in London before setting up Val Heli Ski.Tom is a Canadian and BASI qualified ski instructor and works pan European in the real estate sector post qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in London.

Val Heliski’s USP is focused on solely on providing backcountry snowboarding and skiing adventures, with or without the aid of a helicopter. We are the heli-skiing company exclusively used by most travel companies and all high-end chalets in the Tarentaise Valley, such as Scott Dunn. We have conducted heli-skiing itineraries, sometimes including an overnight stay in our heli lodges, for organisations such as Dragon Alliance, Ski Club of Great Britain, and Bentley.

We are an independent heliski operation working in and around the following three heliski destinations: Valgrisenche Gressoney, Cervinia, the Courmayeur Valley, Sestriere and the Col de Petit St Bernard Pass. Within these three broad valley regions, we have pioneered over 50 drop zones, giving us a huge choice in terrain, snow conditions and mountain orientation to ensure our clients have a day best suited to their ability and preferences.

You can read more on our Italian heli-drop areas here and on the map above.

Maximum Skiable Vertical Drop: 2500 vertical meters per descent and our most drops in one day is currently 6 descents (15,000 vertical meters) using return helicopter transfers to save time and energy (However most of our guests top out at 3 descents in a day).

Average Run Length: Many of our runs are 2200-vertical metres to 2500-vertical metres with the longest yielding 3000-vertical metres in a single drop (a “Reverse Heliski / Board” multi-resort package) snow conditions permitting.

Average Snowfall: Most winters there is a 1140cm base depth in the area with total snowfall average of 426cm or 4.2 metres, the equivalent to just under 14 feet.

  • We are unique in that if you can’t fly due to adverse weather conditions we will refund heli drops at a rate of €250 per seat per drop.
  • On average we get three suitable heliski days per week, and request that our clients have the flexibility to take advantage of the windows by leaving all days of their holiday free for heli.

Your heliski trip of a lifetime doesn’t start when you get in the heli… it starts when you get in contact with our friendly and knowledgeable Val Heliski team.
